Festival 5K/10K

The Heart of Virginia Festival 5K/10K is back! Join us on September 18 on the High Bridge Trail. Not ready to race in a group yet? Join our Virtual 5K/10K anytime from September 17-19.

We are honored to be raising money for Farmville-area nonprofits. As COVID-19 has affected local businesses and individuals, it has vastly impacted the ability of area nonprofits and charities to do good works in our community. Choose one of five amazing organizations to support when you register!

Race Descriptions

10K Race (RUN ONLY):
The 10K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail (311 Main Street) in Farmville, Virginia. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine, crushed, gravel. Timing and scoring of the 10K run will be provided. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category that participated in the 10K. Categories for men and women include: 18 & under, 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

5K Run/Walk (RUN & WALK):
The 5K begins at the Main Street Plaza on the High Bridge State Park Trail in Farmville, Virginia. Runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K and will be ranked together. This out and back course runs in the direction of the old Farmville train station. Grade is relatively flat. Surface is fine, crushed, gravel. Both the 10K and the 5K events start together at 8:30am.  Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall male & female finishers and top finishers in each age category.  Categories for men and women include: 18 & under, 19 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.

Disqualification: 
Participants must complete the event distance they have registered for.  A participant that is registered for the 10K and participates in the 5K during the event will be disqualified. A participant that is registered for the 5K and finishes the 10K will be disqualified.

HAVE YOUR VIRTUAL RACE PACKET MAILED TO YOU.
We are pleased to offer USPS Priority Shipping, for an additional fee of $10.00, to those unable to pickup their packet at our packet pickup and/or live outside of our area. The deadline for this option receive your packet by virtual race weekend is September 6th.

Event Day Parking:
Recommended parking is the Depot Street municipal parking lot located across from our start/finish line. (intersection of Depot St. and North Main)

T-Shirts:  
Guaranteed to all participants registered by September 1st. Extra shirts will be ordered and available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.

Awards:
10K Overall Top 3 M/F, 10K Age Groups Top 3 M/F 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.
5K Overall Top 3 M/F, 5K Age Groups Top 3 M/F 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 – 69, 70 & over.
There are no awards for our virtual events.

VIRTUAL RESULTS:
1.  COMPLETE YOUR 5K or 10K,  Friday September 17 – Sunday September 19th
2.  UPLOAD YOUR RESULTS via the RunSignUp website or text them.
3.  RECEIVE A FINISHER MEDAL AND T-SHIRT!

Participants will have the ability to report their result, for their event, directly to our RunSignUp Results page or by text message.
Instructions will emailed to participants the week before the event and will also be found on our registration page.

Dedicated to the welfare of companion animals, the Southside Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has provided rescue, shelter, medical treatment, spay/neuter, and adoption services to over 45,000 puppies, kittens, cats, and dogs since its establishment in 1975. Southside SPCA is a no-kill shelter serving 12 central Virginia counties.
