Info for Entertainers

Each year our portion of the Festival can use only a few performing artists, and hundreds are considered.  Preference is afforded to Virginia artists.  Your interest is appreciated, and our failure to use any particular performer should not be negatively construed.

Apply selectively to that portion of the Festival which best aligns with the nature of your performance:  Childrens' Festival, Crute Stage, Airport, etc.. Information on applying to those portions of the festival should be found elsewhere on this website.

Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2010APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THAT DATE WILL NEITHER BE CONSIDERED NOR ACKNOWLEDGED.  All applications received on or before August 31, 2010 will be acknowledged by email.

Cultural Events

Performance artists and musicians interested in performing for Cultural Events (High Street stages) at the 2011 Heart of Virginia Festival may submit their application package to:

John Ward
290 Cork Road
Cullen, VA 23934

The application package MUST include the following: brief biography/description and photograph; a compact disc of the individual or group as currently configured (musicians), or a dvd if the applicant is a performance artist (dancer, clown, magician, hoop artist, juggler, etc.); full contact information including reliable telephone #, snailmail and email addresses; fee requirements for one and two sets, respectively; physical/stage/sound requirements.  Links to websites, performance schedules, etc. are helpful.

Email applications and telephone calls will NOT be acknowledged or accepted.

Due to the physical and acoustic logistics of the Cultural Events stages and performance areas, large bands and loud performances are inappropriate, and full bands are well advised to apply to other portions of the Festival.  Our portion of the Festival is best suited for small acoustic musical groups, with blues, bluegrass, Americana, singer-songwriter, jazz and similar genres historically being featured.  Performance artists should not require extensive equipment or staging.
