Saturday Night at the Farmville Airport lived up to the rest of the day. It was the most successful Saturday Night concert in the history of the festival. The attendance was unprecedented and everyone who came had a great time. The show kicked off with a spectacular display of aerobatics. [Saturday Night Outdoor Concert]

[Flight For Sight] Jane Wicker had everyone breathless as she performed stunning wing walking stunts in hazardously high winds. The pilots performed hair raising feats in less than ideal conditions. This was another great new addition to the festival that will hopefully become a regular fixture. [Audience at the airport]

[BetsyQ] Then children's performer Betsy Q got the younger members of the audience singing and dancing. Betsy proved why she is one of the best loved children's performers around and brought something special to Saturday Night for the children.

After Betsy, Virginia R&B legend, Steve Bassett, rocked the audience.

[Steve Bassett] [Member of Steve Bassett's band] Steve, who is a resident of Cartersville, is well known and admired locally. The crowd was ecstatic to hear the strains of "Sweet Virginia Breeze", the song he co-authored with Robbin Thompson. Many Virginians feel it captures a lot of what they love about Virginia although the breeze was a little on the strong side on Saturday Night. [Steve Bassett]

[The Stage] While the stage was empty there was still plenty to see and do including investigating the fabulous smells wafting over from the other side of the airport. There was 4H BBQ, Exchange club burgers and many more great eats on offer.

[Percy Sledge] After the National Guard display and the Fireworks the chance came to see a living legend perform. The local audience members and fans who had travelled a long way to see Percy Sledge in action were not disappointed. Percy performed some true classics including his own biggest hit "When A Man Loves A Woman". [The Fans] [Percy Sledge]

[Percy Sledge & Perry Carrington] [Debbie Coffin, Percy Sledge & Perry Carrington] Despite the fact that he did not feel 100%, Percy graciously hung around after the show meeting fans and signing autographs. Several fans had their dreams come true as they got to meet the legend and some even got a hug.

And then it was all over for another year. The 21st Heart Of Virginia came to a close and it's time to look forward to an even bigger and better event in the year 2000.
